This registration is for the 2023 Summer Travel Season tryout on Sunday, May 21 at Bare Cove/Carlson Field. Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. We will provide times for the tryout/eval once registration is complete.
Girls born between 2008 and 2014 that would like to play in the summer travel league need to both register for and attend the tryouts. If your registrant cannot attend the May 21 tryout, please register her anyway and let us know that she cannot attend and we will work with you to make other arrangements for her evaluation.
Our hope is that all girls are able to participate in the Summer Travel League. However, this will be largely dependent on the numbers of teams we can field, which is directly related to the number of girls that register. If we are able to field multiple teams, we will follow the A/B format of the South Shore Summer Softball League.
We are not asking for payment now, but if your daughter is placed on a team we will provide a link to complete payment at that time. The cost for the 2023 Summer Travel Season is:
Summer League teams are based on birth date:
The summer travel league is a competitive option open to girls born between 2008 and 2014. All Hingham 10u, 12u and 14u teams participate in the South Shore Summer League.
Our goal is to have as many girls play as possible and to field as many teams as possible in each of the age brackets. Roster sizes are limited to 12-13 girls so player registration numbers, as well as the number of coaching volunteers, will dictate how many teams we will carry and if there will be cuts. We encourage all girls to tryout and all parents to volunteer. We will do our best to ensure we place as many girls as possible and if there are enough girls and coaches to field multiple teams in a given age bracket, we will follow the A/B/C format of the South Shore Summer League.
What to expect with Summer/Travel softball:
Generally, the level of play is more competitive than the spring softball season as the girls will face other travel teams from throughout the South Shore, including Milton, Canton, Bridgewater, Plymouth, etc. While competitive, the season also offers the girls a fun and rewarding experience, as they are able to further develop their softball skills in a more challenging but supportive environment that focuses heavily on the development of fundamental skills.
In addition, while we understand there will be conflicts that arise in the summer, it is expected that the girls selected will be available for the vast majority of games. There are two games each week, typically played Monday – Thursday. The season starts the week of June 19 and runs through the end of July/early August depending on the playoffs.
If there are any questions about the level of play, the commitment required or anything else please feel free to reach out to us directly at the email address below.
